POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary objective of the Sales Manager is to embody the mission, vision, and values of Carter's, thereby fostering a high-performing team that consistently achieves outstanding results. Collaborating closely with the store management team, the Sales Manager oversees the overall productivity of the store. Key responsibilities include supporting the management team in driving financial performance through exceptional store standards, executing company strategies, and ensuring positive customer interactions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership

Engages in professional and effective communication with team members, management, and associates. Regularly addresses employee concerns with the Store Manager for prompt resolution. Aids in the recruitment process by actively sourcing candidates and reviewing applications to ensure timely filling of open positions. Provides ongoing, constructive feedback to the store team. Acknowledges and rewards exceptional performance to enhance employee engagement. Welcomes feedback with a positive attitude and takes appropriate action based on that feedback. Collaborates with the Store Manager to address performance issues among associates.

Performance Management

Upholds the company standard of maintaining a neat, clean, and organized store environment. Demonstrates exceptional customer service behaviors and maintains high standards throughout the store. Responsible for leading and executing an assigned Division of Responsibility (DOR) through careful planning and follow-through. Takes on Leader on Duty responsibilities by driving results and addressing customer concerns promptly and effectively. Assists store management in adjusting schedules based on business needs to maximize sales and productivity. Engages in regular discussions with the Store Manager regarding strengths, opportunities, and business trends. Utilizes customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement actions to drive results.

Operational Excellence

Supports the planning and execution of store processes and merchandise placement efficiently while adhering to brand guidelines. Aids the store team in Asset Protection through consistent customer service, education, and operational controls. Executes company directives within specified timelines, including visual merchandising, signage, markdowns, and sales promotions. Fosters customer loyalty through company-sponsored programs. Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures as per established standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement; an Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. At least 1 year of experience in retail store management. Proven customer engagement skills. Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Basic computer proficiency. Must be at least 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly. Ability to stand for extended periods; climb ladders as needed. Frequent walking and standing; regular bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Regular work frequency is essential to maintain active employment status. Any changes in availability must be approved by the Store Manager and will be evaluated based on business needs. Scheduled shifts typically range from 3 to 8 hours in length (subject to applicable state laws).
