Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Loan Specialist to join our team at Communities Unlimited, Inc. in Brownsville, TX. As a Loan Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and servicing consumer loans, interviewing loan applicants, and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and service consumer loans, including interviewing loan applicants and evaluating loan applications and creditworthiness.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure borrowers' questions are answered and needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records, and follow all applicable organizational, state and federal policies and regulations.
  • Work independently, organize and prioritize work, and process paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats, and formulate and communicate new ideas and suggestions to enhance the operations and effectiveness of the Nuestra Casa Loan Program.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; minimum of an associate degree in accounting, business or related field and at least 1 year of experience underwriting and/or servicing loans.
  • Experience in a leadership position in non-profit or community-based work a plus.
  • Must be English / Spanish Bi-Lingual, with a valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for travel to office located in Brownsville, TX.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in credit/lending at a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of credit, lending concepts and practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently, organize and prioritize work, and process paperwork accurately and efficiently.
  • Effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats, and formulate and communicate new ideas and suggestions to enhance the operations and effectiveness of the Nuestra Casa Loan Program.
