Job Title: CIS Instructor

Solano Community College is seeking a qualified CIS Instructor to teach part-time courses in Computer Information Sciences and Computer Applications.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching classes in CIS and Computer Applications, participating in the School of Applied Technology and Business, and using current technologies in the classroom. The instructor will also be expected to attend regular meetings, participate in committee work, and spearhead course-level assessment and planning.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide instruction in accordance with established program course outlines of record.
  2. Develop, review, and maintain currency of curriculum for courses taught.
  3. Work in collaboration with other instructors to coordinate curriculum and mentor adjunct faculty.
  4. Participate in program review, curriculum development, and evaluation.
  5. Actively participate in department/school meetings and maintain regular office hours.
  6. Use technology to enhance student learning.
  7. Participate in college-wide committee work and collegial governance.
  8. Maintain current knowledge and skills in the area of assignment.
  9. Maintain effective communication with peers, staff, students, and administrators.
Requirements:
  • A Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and a Master's degree in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting, or engineering.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering and a Master's degree in cybernetics, engineering mathematics, or business administration.
  • A Bachelor's degree in mathematics and a Master's degree in cybernetics, engineering mathematics, or business administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of teaching and multiple teaching methods.
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize multiple teaching methods/strategies needed to address the diverse learning styles/needs of students.
  • Possess a commitment to teaching and learning, and provide a supportive learning environment to enhance student success and completion.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to teach students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Competency with computers and other technological aids.
  • Commitment to stay current with scholarship and development in field of expertise.
  • Willingness to participate in recruitment and articulation with area schools.
  • Possess a willingness to take initiative in co-curricular activities, special events, and School projects.
  • Possess a willingness to participate in shared/participatory governance of the Division and the College.
  • Demonstrate an ability to self-evaluate and effect change for personal growth and improvement.
