Job Responsibilities:
  • Diagnoses and repairs complex mechanical issues under general supervision.
  • Troubleshoots, inspects, and maintains transit vehicles and associated equipment.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Performs modifications and upgrades on vehicle systems.
  • Responds to road calls and performs on-site repairs as necessary.
  • Oversees and assists the work of junior mechanics.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workspace.
  • Completes additional tasks as required.
Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must be at least 21 years old and possess a Commercial Driving License with passenger and airbrake endorsements. Preferred Education: Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and Master Mechanic certification are advantageous. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in heavy-duty transit equipment repair and maintenance. Skills Required:
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems in transit vehicles
  • Ability to interpret safety regulations, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and mechanical diagrams
  • Capability to document work accurately and efficiently
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to assist and supervise others in their work
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform job functions, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Capability to work in various environmental conditions.
