**Job Overview:**

The County of Santa Barbara Public Defender's Office is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Public Defender II to join our team. As a Deputy Public Defender II, you will play a vital role in upholding the constitutional and statutory rights of our community.

**Key Responsibilities:

  • Interview clients, advise them on their rights and legal options, and conduct thorough investigations.
  • Analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare for trials, negotiations, and other court proceedings.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies, present arguments, and negotiate with prosecuting authorities.

**Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A valid California Class C Driver's License.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of California.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as an attorney in public law or two years as a general practicing attorney.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

**Benefits:**

We offer a competitive salary range of $108,511.52 - $130,840.32 per annum, plus benefits that include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
