Overview

Stepstone Academy is in search of a Culinary Support Specialist dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of our students. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and exhibit exceptional customer service abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement of food supplies.
  • Oversee the preparation, handling, and cooking of food items, ensuring compliance with Ohio Uniform Food Code and National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs regulations.
  • Serve meals at appropriate portion sizes and temperatures while providing outstanding customer service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all serving, storage, and preparation areas at all times.
  • Ensure accountability for meals served under the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs, including inventory management, sanitation, and maintenance.
  • Monitor and assist students to create a pleasant dining experience daily.
  • Support program aide coverage and undertake additional duties as assigned.
  • Exhibit regular and reliable attendance.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of special events or departmental projects as needed.
  • Be flexible to complete related tasks as directed by supervisors in times of need.

Performance and Physical Requirements:

This role involves working with children of various ages and requires extensive bending, lifting, standing, walking, and cleaning of equipment and dining areas.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a GED or High School Diploma is required. Experience in food service is preferred. An Ohio Department of Education Aide permit is advantageous. Candidates must pass a criminal background check and meet the State Department of Education's minimum requirements.

All applicants will undergo a pre-employment screening process, which includes a fingerprint background check, physical examination, Tuberculosis test, and drug screening after receiving a job offer. Employment offers are contingent upon satisfactory completion of all pre-employment screenings.
