Position: Preschool Floater

Role Summary
The YWCA of Lubbock is seeking a dedicated individual to ensure a nurturing, safe, and engaging educational atmosphere for young children within the Preschool setting. This role involves transitioning between various classrooms, fostering the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of children. This is a part-time position primarily during afternoons and early evenings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the execution of developmentally suitable practices and activities in all classroom settings to comply with YWCA of Lubbock's and Texas State's Licensing Standards.
  • Support the integration of all program areas into the curriculum, including education, nutrition, mental health, health, disabilities, and transportation.
  • Help maintain a safe and healthy learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
  • Contribute to a classroom atmosphere that promotes learning.
  • Keep accurate records regarding children and their families.
  • Ensure child-staff ratios are upheld at all times.
  • Build strong, caring relationships with children.
  • Encourage parental involvement in classroom and center activities.
  • Assist in conducting necessary assessments for children.
  • Participate in home visits and parent conferences.
  • Conduct daily health checks.
  • Show respect and consideration for children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Adhere to YWCA child guidance methods.
  • Follow TDFPS regulations diligently.
  • Be knowledgeable about legal and professional responsibilities regarding the reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect and adhere to all YWCA child abuse prevention policies.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining the classroom environment.
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with other staff and management.
  • Engage in training and workshops for professional growth; maintain required certifications and hours.
  • Represent the organization at events as needed.
  • Fill in for the Preschool Teacher during their absence.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications
  • Preferred early childhood education certifications, such as Child Development Associate (CDA).
  • Commitment to the YWCA mission, vision, and policies, serving as a role model for the community.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Meet all other personnel requirements set by YWCA.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings or weekends.
  • Minimal travel required: 0-10 days per year.
  • Pass a criminal history background check and FBI fingerprint check.
  • Ability to connect well with diverse populations.
