The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in managing a specific kitchen department, collaborating closely with the Executive Chef and/or Executive Sous Chef to establish and uphold quality standards. In the absence of senior leadership, the Sous Chef may oversee the entire kitchen operation. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth functioning of the culinary department, providing guidance and support to the culinary team to enhance the guest experience.

The compensation for this position ranges from $66,560 to $71,000, reflecting Hyatt Regency Indian Wells' commitment to fair and competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting senior management with essential operational duties
  • Acting as a liaison between culinary and other hotel departments
  • Overseeing the preparation and cooking of various dishes
  • Creating and implementing innovative menu items that align with Hyatt's brand standards
  • Planning and executing special events and holiday functions
  • Managing kitchen staff through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, and evaluations
  • Potentially supervising other culinary leadership roles, including junior Sous Chefs
  • Leading the team to achieve outstanding guest service and employee satisfaction
  • Monitoring food production, inventory, costs, and quality on a daily basis
  • Ensuring safety and sanitation standards are met in all kitchen areas
