Job Summary

The Lone Star College-Montgomery is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Librarian to join our team. As a key member of our academic support services, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction, reference, and collection development services to students, faculty, and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Library Science/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution and excellent interpersonal, customer service, oral and written communication skills. They will also have the ability to effectively use technology in the performance of the job and in the classroom, including computers, laptops, eBook readers, tablets, pads, and other mobile devices, as well as online and virtual technologies.

The Librarian will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure students have access to the resources needed to support the curriculum across multiple modalities. They will also be responsible for evaluating, recommending, introducing, and maintaining innovative technology to assist with student learning and success.

The successful candidate will be a team player who is committed to creating a nation of world citizenry in our students. They will model ways of thinking and being that incorporate diversity, equality, and equity, and will be compassionate with students, colleagues, and themselves.

The Librarian will also be responsible for developing outreach and cocurricular activities for students, faculty, and community partners, in order to promote library services and support cross-disciplinary learning outside of the classroom.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to student success and will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will also be able to meet institutional service and professional development goals as determined in collaboration with the dean/director.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
