Job Title: Front End Web Developer

Job Summary:

The University of Akron is seeking a highly skilled Front End Web Developer to join our team. As a key member of our web development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing the front-end of our web applications and websites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop the user interface and user experience of our web applications and websites.
  • Write and edit template pages and complex web pages that incorporate video, audio, and forms.
  • Translate wireframes and sketches into working prototypes to refine interface behaviors.
  • Build and maintain front-end libraries and frameworks.
  • Collaborate with web developers to integrate front-end and back-end code, ensuring design integrity.
  • Debug and troubleshoot layout and scripting issues across various browsers.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in front-end development, with a strong focus on accessibility, extensibility, and client-side computing.
  • Expert-level JavaScript programming and working knowledge of at least one popular JavaScript framework.
  • Expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, SEO, and web accessibility standards.
  • Experience using web analytics tools and content management systems.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education environments.
  • Experience with Bootstrap frameworks and responsive design methodologies.
  • Experience developing and maintaining WordPress functionality.
  • Experience working with Google Tag Manager and consuming services like XML, JSON, and SOAP.

Working Conditions:

The job is physically comfortable, with occasional minor inconveniences due to noise, crowded working conditions, and minor heating/cooling or ventilation problems.

Salary:

The starting salary for this position is $55,000.
