Job Summary:
Northwell Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Unit team in Medicine. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial patient histories and perform physical examinations to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Initiate, document, and communicate plans of care, ensuring complete screening and preparation of patients.
- Perform daily patient rounds to monitor patient progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests as necessary.
- Interpret laboratory and test results to inform patient care decisions.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimal quality of patient care.
- Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts and provide post-discharge care instructions to patients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Graduation from an accredited program required.
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State required.
- NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Master's Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program and National Board Certification in specialty area required, with a collaborative practice agreement or relationship attestation as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015.
