About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Atrium Health, specializing in Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and effective medication therapies for patients.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position that requires collaboration with patients' care teams to oversee the provision of safe and effective medication therapies. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing physician orders for drug therapy, monitoring this therapy for drug choice, dosage, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, and formulary adherence.

Essential Functions
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to drug information requests by retrieving and evaluating relevant biomedical literature.
  • Utilize effective patient education techniques to provide counseling on medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, appropriate use, handling, and medication administration.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare workers regarding unresolved situations requiring future action.
  • Determine the presence of medication-related problems with current therapies and design patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
  • Implement recommendations effectively and utilize existing clinical intervention policies and procedures.
  • Participate in managing medical emergencies and precepting pharmacy students and residents.
  • Prepare and dispense medications according to best practices, policies, and state and federal regulations.
Physical Requirements

The selected candidate will work primarily in the pharmacy, delivering medications to nursing units. This position requires considerable walking, standing, pushing a mobile cart (maximum 50 pounds), lifting up to 25 pounds, and utilizing personal protective equipment to minimize exposure to hazardous agents.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm D. from an accredited school of pharmacy is required. Licensing in the state of North Carolina or eligibility for reciprocity is also required. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
