We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Therapist - Substance Use Services to join our team at Newport Mental Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing counseling, support, and guidance to individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual substance use counseling to assigned clients in accordance with organization policy and procedures.
  • Facilitate individual counseling sessions to address clients' substance use challenges, triggers, and coping strategies.
  • Lead group therapy sessions focused on relapse prevention, life skills, and peer support.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and coworkers to ensure client needs are met.
  • Educate clients regarding issues associated with substance abuse treatment.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work or other related social services field required.
  • Licensed at the independent practice level (LICSW) as defined by the Rhode Island Department of Health preferred.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) licensure will also be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical work experience.
  • Positive and genuine outlook about change with a belief that people do achieve enhanced wellness and positive outcomes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.
  • A demonstrated understanding and respect for diversity.
  • Flexibility and open to learning and enhancing skills.
  • Possesses excellent assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Is adept at engaging individuals in treatment.
  • Is comfortable with evidence-based group, individual, and family treatment approaches.
  • Works well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
