Position Overview:

The Field Service Systems Engineer is tasked with addressing all service requirements for bioMerieux clients within their designated geographic area, as well as nationally when necessary. This role demands a proactive individual capable of delivering exceptional customer service while working independently and traveling as needed.

This position will focus on the Tampa region, and candidates should ideally reside within or near this area.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Territory Management:
    Promptly respond to customer inquiries through professional communication, ensuring all service requests are met efficiently.
  • Exhibit strong territory management skills and sound business judgment.
  • Execute installations, preventive and corrective maintenance, and other necessary field actions to meet customer and business goals.
  • Utilize electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer skills to troubleshoot and resolve instrument issues effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, becoming a trusted advisor while promoting service agreements and offerings.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify potential sales opportunities.
  • Engage with local field service partners and cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive customer outreach initiatives to achieve field service revenue targets.

Travel & On-Call Requirements:

Field Service Engineers are expected to travel for scheduled training sessions and may need to undertake unscheduled travel for customer visits. Weekend and holiday on-call support will be required on a rotating basis.


Administrative Duties:
  • Complete service work orders and quality assurance checklists promptly.
  • Maintain an organized calendar of scheduled events and training.
  • Submit travel expense reports regularly to avoid penalties.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding fleet vehicle management.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Manage spare parts inventory to align with repair activities and financial objectives.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of company policies and service techniques.
  • Maintain company-issued equipment and ensure its proper functionality.
  • Represent bioMerieux professionally at all times.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to strategize service team expansion.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in troubleshooting or repair of biomedical or similar systems. Military experience or an associate degree in engineering is preferred. Candidates should possess a fundamental understanding of laboratory operations and have prior field service experience.
