About the Role

The Avenues Athletics Department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Middle School Basketball Coach to join our team. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our growing sports curriculum, working closely with Middle and Upper School coaches to ensure a comprehensive and engaging experience for our student athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to student athletes
  • Provide a foundation for integrity, pride of accomplishment, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork, and self-confidence
  • Manage and coordinate practice and game plans, including scheduling and logistics
  • Attend all scheduled games and practices, as well as athletic and school meetings and events
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive team culture
Requirements
  • 3+ years of basketball head coaching experience (for Head Coaches)
  • 1+ years of basketball coaching or related experience (for Assistant Coaches)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff, and the athletics department
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain training before the season commences
  • Up-to-date COVID vaccines and boosters
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those with experience in the desired age category
  • Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game
  • Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to student athletes
Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time and seasonal position, averaging 6-10 hours per week. Coach pay rates per season range from $2,800.00-$3,800.00, depending on coach level and experience.
