Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to join our team at the State of Oregon. As a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, you will play a critical role in helping individuals with disabilities gain, maintain, or advance employment through our rehabilitation process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial interviews and eligibility determinations to assess client needs and develop employment goals.
  • Work with clients to identify and address barriers to employment, including medical and psychological information.
  • Provide vocational counseling and guidance to clients, including job placement, job coaching, and skill assessments.
  • Collaborate with local employers to promote job opportunities and provide career consultations.
  • Represent the agency in the community by maintaining working relationships with various organizations and attending community events.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field, or certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Insurance Rehabilitation Specialist (CIRS), or Certified Disability Management Specialist (CDMS).
  • At least six months of full-time work experience providing vocational rehabilitation-related services.
  • Experience working with individuals with behavioral health and/or mental health barriers, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and culturally diverse populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, employers, and community partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and employers.
  • Experience working in a rehabilitation or human services setting, with knowledge of state and federal regulations governing vocational rehabilitation services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess client needs and develop effective solutions.
