Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Pricing Strategy:

  • Evaluate historical pricing data, market dynamics, and competitive pricing frameworks to propose optimal pricing strategies utilizing mathematical, probabilistic, statistical, and financial expertise to derive insurance metrics and services.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of pricing models and methodologies aimed at maximizing profitability and market presence.
  • Conduct pricing simulations and sensitivity analyses to assess pricing scenarios and their implications on business performance.
  • Formulate market-appropriate assumptions.
  • Perform claims data analysis using existing SQL queries and develop new queries as needed.
  • Contribute to various quantitative projects related to claims and financial modeling within the insurance sector.

Market Research and Competitive Analysis:

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, customer behaviors, and competitor pricing tactics to pinpoint market opportunities, challenges, and the future landscape of transactional underwriting and predictive analytics.
  • Collect and analyze data from diverse sources to inform pricing decisions and strategic adjustments.
  • Prepare competitive intelligence reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track and evaluate pricing performance metrics, including pricing effectiveness, profitability analysis, and price realization.
  • Compile regular reports and presentations on pricing trends, profitability assessments, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
  • Generate prospective expected loss ratios (ELR).
  • Identify improvement opportunities and recommend actionable insights based on data-driven analysis.

Catastrophe Modeling:

  • Conduct analyses of catastrophe management and performance.
  • Provide risk-return assessments.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

  • Work alongside sales, marketing, finance, and product management teams to align pricing strategies with overarching business goals.
  • Support sales teams with pricing proposals, deal assessments, and customer negotiations.
  • Engage in cross-departmental projects and initiatives to enhance pricing capabilities and effectiveness.

Process Enhancement and Automation:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline pricing processes, improve data accuracy, and elevate pricing analytics capabilities.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations teams to implement pricing tools, systems, and automation solutions.
  • Document pricing policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.

Compensation:

$100,000-$135,000 DOE


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in property/casualty actuarial work or related fields focusing on rate adequacy analysis and claims data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel or other data analysis tools for data manipulation, modeling, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with SQL, R, or similar programming languages preferred for data extraction.
  • Experience in creating visual presentations and exhibits.
  • Understanding of standard P&C actuarial methods and pricing concepts.
  • Working knowledge of insurance business principles and economics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
