Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to conduct field investigations and analyze failures and accidents involving electrical equipment, products, and wiring systems. The successful candidate will apply electrical engineering principles to investigation analysis, conduct unbiased field and lab investigations, and deliver professional presentations to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct field investigations and analyze failures and accidents involving electrical equipment, products, and wiring systems
  • Apply electrical engineering principles to investigation analysis
  • Conduct unbiased field and lab investigations for various types of clients
  • Deliver professional presentations to clients
  • Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms
  • Support conclusions by appropriate testimony in legal proceedings

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required, Master's Degree preferred
  • P.E. registration through testing
  • Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic electrical engineering experience, more experience preferred
  • Background in power systems, controls, and NEC knowledge beneficial
  • Interest in fire-related investigations (we will train)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Public speaking experience a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • 25% travel, primarily by vehicle
  • Ability to lift 80 lbs.
  • Ability to remove large and/or heavy artifacts from fire scenes
  • Ability to carry equipment (shovels, camera, evidence case, etc.) up flights of stairs
  • Ability to shovel out fires and lift fire debris in conjunction with investigations, for up to 3 to 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and structures and climb ladders
  • Ability to drive to site locations at varying hours and fly on airplanes
