About the Role

Potelco, Inc. seeks a Staff Engineer to join our design and project management team at our office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and lead projects related to electrical transmission and distribution line construction, enhancement, and replacement.

Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality services to our clients, and we are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop designs for transmission (55 kV 230 kV overhead) and distribution lines (primarily 15 kV & 35 kV, both overhead and underground), including field investigation, computer modeling, foundation design, reporting, and application of a PE Stamp.
  • Ensure that team work product is compliant with applicable codes, standards, and O&M requirements.
  • Interpret engineering guidelines and standards to find solutions to problems when existing standards do not exist.
  • Review, sign and seal pertinent deliverable documentation, including technical reports and construction drawings.
  • Serve as a consultant/mentor to internal staff to facilitate project completion, engineering skills development, and knowledge transfer.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure that deadlines are met, and create and maintain technical documentation templates that are transmitted to clients per stated contract deliverables.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Professional engineering license in the State of Washington or ability to obtain one within three months.
  • 5+ years of experience in the construction or utilities industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Ability to organize and participate in field visits during all times of the year and in environments ranging from urban to rural.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from all applicable stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s).
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the design, construction, and operation of high-voltage power lines.
  • Electric utility experience.
  • Experience using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-CAISSON, PLS-TOWER, LPILE, and/or MFAD.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical reports and studies.
