About the Position:
This is a full-time role eligible for benefits.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on operational needs.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Shipyard Superintendent, On-Site Foreman, or Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute welding tasks safely and efficiently to support the construction of cruise ships and tugboats.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic with a focus on productivity.
Essential Duties:
- Perform welding on steel ranging from 1/4" to 1" using FCAW and SMAW techniques in various positions (3G, 4G, and 6G).
- Conduct TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum.
- Utilize plasma cutting and oxy-propane cutting methods.
- Execute weld tests, including soap and air tests, hydrostatic pressure testing, and dye penetrant inspections.
- Assemble large steel components and complete layouts based on technical drawings and templates.
- Engage in tack welding using stick and semi-automatic welding equipment (preferred).
- Maintain a clean and organized job site while adhering to safety protocols.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to walk; frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, or crawl in various heights and confined spaces; occasionally required to sit; must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds safely.
Safety Considerations:
- Work may involve exposure to weather, fumes, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Proper safety gear is required.
Salary Range: $25 - $30 per hour
