Akumin is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the safe administration of radiation treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Treatment Delivery: Deliver radiation treatment according to written prescription and treatment plan, ensuring safety in patient care through consistent practice of departmental procedures for treatment administration.
- Patient Care: Provide and ensure an environment of caring, concern, and support for patients, visitors, medical staff, and co-workers on a consistent basis.
- Documentation and Quality Assurance: Assure the quality of treatment delivery through complete and accurate documentation of treatment records, recognizing deviations from prescribed treatment delivery and reporting to the Chief Therapist and/or Physicist.
- Communication and Education: Use effective communication techniques and interpersonal skills to provide explanations for treatment-related procedures, explain treatment procedures to patients and/or family, and respond effectively to patient concerns.
- Simulation and Data Collection: Independently perform patient simulations at the request of physicians, collect and document data acquired during the simulation procedure, and accurately input treatment-related data into the EMR.
- Treatment-Related Procedures: Assist as needed in all treatment-related procedures, including transporting patients, reviewing charts, and ordering supplies.
- Quality Improvement: Perform and document daily and weekly QA checklists, notify appropriate clinical team members and document findings outside the normal range of operations, and participate in programs to measure and improve the quality of care within the Department.
- Financial and Administrative Tasks: Capture and verify patient treatment charges.
- Education: Associate's degree.
- Certifications: ARRT (T) and CPR Certification.
- Experience: One (1) to four (4) years' experience as a Radiation Therapist.
- Physical Requirements: The employee may be exposed to radioactive isotopes, ionizing radiation, and a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease. The employee must be able to have full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity such as walking in and out of the treatment room, lifting of potentially heavy cerrobend blocks and electron cones, and transferring and moving patients, as necessary.
