Radiation Therapist Job Description

The Radiation Therapist will provide high-quality care to patients with cancer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver radiation treatment according to written prescription and treatment plan, ensuring patient safety through consistent practice of departmental procedures.
  • Provide a caring and supportive environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers.
  • Document treatment records accurately and report any deviations to the Chief Therapist and/or Physicist.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families, explaining treatment procedures and responding to concerns.
  • Perform patient simulations, collect and document data, and make recommendations to physicians.
  • Assist with treatment-related procedures, including transporting patients and ordering supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and troubleshoot common quality issues.
  • Capture and verify patient treatment charges.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree.
  • ARRT (T) certification.
  • CPR certification.
  • 1-4 years' experience as a Radiation Therapist.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be required.
  • Background check and drug screen required for employment.
Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to radioactive isotopes, ionizing radiation, and a strong magnetic field. May be exposed to radiation, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.

The employee must be able to have full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity such as walking in and out of the treatment room, lifting of potentially heavy cerrobend blocks and electron cones, and transferring and moving patients, as necessary.
