Surgical Technologist I

Job Summary:
The Surgical Technologist I is a vital member of the surgical team, responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient operating room environment. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgical team during operations and procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and providing necessary equipment and supplies.
- Prepare the surgical suite and assist in the movement of patients as needed.
- Provide technical support to the surgeon and other team members, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in ongoing educational activities to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
- Complete assigned goals and objectives, demonstrating technical accountability and a commitment to excellence.
Requirements:
- Holds a current National Certification established by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a surgical technologist.
- OR demonstrates education and training through one of the following methods under TN Code Ann. (a)
- Completion of a CAAHEP accredited program in surgical technology.
- Completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technologists in the armed forces, CAAHEP accredited hospital, or CAAHEP accredited ambulatory surgical treatment cancer program.
- OR successfully completed the surgical technologists NBSTSA certifying exam.
- OR grandfathered under TN Code Ann. (a) - Prior to July 1, 2006, was employed for not less than 18 months as a surgical technologist in a hospital, medical office, surgery center, or school; or began training to be a surgical technologist in an accredited surgical technology program.
