Position Summary: The Environmental Services Associate is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of both interior and exterior areas of the facility. This role is crucial in maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for residents.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Administrator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily cleaning and maintenance of floors, including mopping and buffing in resident rooms, offices, and communal areas, adhering to established protocols.
- Manage the application and removal of floor finishes on tiled surfaces.
- Address spills and maintain cleanliness in designated areas as instructed.
- Organize and maintain storage spaces, including moving furniture as necessary.
- Perform minor repairs on building fixtures and equipment.
- Ensure adequate lighting is maintained throughout the facility.
- Supervise the daily activities of housekeeping and laundry personnel.
- Oversee the operations of maintenance services.
- Assist with mattress flipping on resident beds when required.
- Ensure the dining area is cleaned post-meals.
- Change curtains and drapes in resident areas as needed.
- Execute additional tasks as directed by the Administrator.
- Comply with regulations concerning residents' rights.
- Help prevent any form of abuse or neglect towards the elderly.
- Foster a clean and safe living environment for all residents.
- Actively participate as a team member, prioritizing resident needs.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels for Environmental and Maintenance Departments.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry items.
- Reach above and below shoulder height.
- Push and pull as necessary.
- Handle paperwork and small equipment.
- Stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and squat as required.
- Demonstrate fine motor coordination.
- Read and write clearly.
- Follow and give instructions effectively.
- Climb as needed.
Cognitive and Sensory Requirements:
- Communication: Engage with residents, families, and staff.
- Listening: Follow instructions from supervisors and respond to resident needs.
- Vision: Perform tasks accurately.
- Olfactory: Detect and manage facility odors.
Licensure: No specific licensure required.
Occupational Exposure: The role involves tasks classified by the C.D.C. as Category II, with potential exposure during emergencies.
Additional Considerations: The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment typical of a healthcare facility. Candidates should be comfortable with both sitting and prolonged standing or walking.
