About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dishroom Attendant to join our team at Sage Hospitality. As a Dishroom Attendant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our kitchen and restaurant areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and sort dirty dishware from tubs and rinse and stack in dishracks, ensuring all leftovers and trash are removed.
- Load full dishracks onto the automatic dishwashing machine and ensure correct placement according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Operate the automatic dishwashing machine, monitoring and adjusting controls as needed to ensure optimal cleaning results.
- Unload clean dishes from racks and inspect for cleanliness, carefully stacking them in designated carts and shelves for easy access by kitchen staff.
- Manually scrub and clean pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment that cannot be washed automatically, using detergents and scourers as required.
- Inspect and manually dry equipment, putting it away in its designated place.
- Polish silver, stainless steel, and pewter items used in food service, using standard polishing cloths and products to present clean and attractive equipment to diners.
- Maintain the automatic dishwashing equipment in good working order, following manufacturer's instructions to prolong its lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
- Keep the dishroom clean and organized, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, wiping down counters and equipment, and organizing shelves to maintain a sanitary work environment.
- Mop kitchen floors as needed and clean kitchen work surfaces, including walls, ceilings, hoods, vents, and ovens, as scheduled by management.
- Gather and empty trash cans from kitchen work areas at the end of each shift.
- Sweep the loading dock and kitchen entrance areas, clearing litter and debris to trash bins for employee and purveyor safety.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of dishwashing procedures and practices.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including serving trays, carts, tables, chairs, and small equipment.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk, and travel up to 300 feet throughout the shift.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle china, glassware, and fragile equipment with care to minimize breakage.
Working Environment:
This role requires prolonged standing, walking, lifting, and carrying throughout the entire shift in a 95% indoor environment. The kitchen and dishroom areas can be cold, with temperatures reaching -10 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer.
