DEPARTMENT:

Service Manager

OBJECTIVE:
The Service Technician is tasked with executing vehicle repairs and maintenance as designated, adhering to dealership and manufacturer standards. This role also includes supervising any apprentice technicians assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Receive and review repair orders from the dispatcher and proceed to the designated work area.
  2. Carry out tasks as specified on the repair order with precision and efficiency, following dealership and manufacturer guidelines.
  3. Diagnose the root cause of any issues and perform necessary repairs.
  4. Coordinate with the parts department to secure required components.
  5. Tag and save parts if the service is under warranty or upon customer request.
  6. Inspect the vehicle to identify any additional safety or service requirements.
  7. Inform the service advisor promptly if further work is necessary, if the outlined tasks are unnecessary, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
  8. Document all work performed accurately.
  9. Conduct road tests on vehicles when necessary or refer to the test technician, ensuring that customer vehicles are not used for personal errands.
  10. Oversee the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned. Participate in factory-sponsored training sessions and stay updated on factory technical bulletins.
  11. Ensure that customer vehicles are maintained in a clean condition. Keep the workshop area organized and clean, and account for all dealership-owned tools consistently.
  12. Comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding the disposal of hazardous materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening.
  • Must successfully complete a background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and information.
  • ASE certification is preferred.
  • General mechanical aptitude is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Manual dexterity is essential.
  • Demonstrated good judgment is required.
