Job Title: Associate Distribution Engineer

We are seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our Power Delivery Services group, you will be responsible for developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop construction work packages for the electric distribution system using GIS, CAD tools, WMS, and other client systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop, and flicker.
  • Coordinate protective devices and prepare forestry trimming requests, facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, and develop a BOM.
  • Estimate costs and provide customer advocacy, including acquiring easements.
  • Travel to various project locations to conduct field investigations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (EE or CE preferred).
  • 0+ years of prior relevant experience, either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering.
  • Comfortable in a field office setting and able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Ability to walk up to 2 miles on unpaved surfaces and provide own reliable transportation.
  • Local customer/job-related travel is anticipated and will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Familiarity with PoleForeman, SAP, Microstation.
  • Fundamentals of Engineer Certifications.
