We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at i4 Search Group Healthcare. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of clinical laboratory tests.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Handling and Processing: Follow established procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples, adhere to quality control policies, and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
- Test Performance and Reporting: Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, document all corrective action taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications, and perform all routine and new test procedures that are complex and require professional judgment.
- Instrument Calibration and Maintenance: Calibrate instruments, assess the accuracy of equipment, and perform equipment preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Test Result Verification: Check and verify all test results released by the laboratory, including accepting or rejecting results due to delta check inconsistencies, requesting redraw for verification, canceling results due to gross hemolysis, clots, or QNS.
- Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with nurses and physicians, work well with others, and assist in maintaining adequate supplies and inventory levels.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist in developing and installing quality control standards to ensure accuracy of test results, initiate, suggest, and implement technical and administrative changes upon approval of the Laboratory Director.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science required.
- Med Tech ASCP certification required.
- Two (2) years experience working in an acute care facility required.
- Strong communication skills a must.
- Experience as a Generalist preferred.
- Experience with Quality Assurance procedures preferred.
