General Overview:
The Transit Maintenance Parts Coordinator is responsible for providing both technical and administrative assistance in the management of parts and supplies. This role includes tasks such as receiving, ordering, and distributing inventory, as well as preparing necessary documentation for reports and inventories.

Supervision:
This position operates under the guidance of the Parts and Service Administrator.


Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Essential Responsibilities:
To excel in this role, the individual must effectively carry out the following key responsibilities:
  • Unload and verify new inventory shipments against packing slips.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks for the loading and unloading of large shipments.
  • Assist vendors and delivery personnel at the Transit facility.
  • Order and receive parts from suppliers as necessary.
  • Manage inventory through barcoding and stocking, ensuring accurate counts of equipment, fuel, and supplies.
  • Support maintenance staff with vehicle drop-off and pick-up for repairs.
  • Assist in packing and shipping products for repairs or returns.
  • Research parts using both electronic and hard copy manuals.
  • Issue parts to mechanics as required.
  • Prepare documentation for surplus items.
  • Complete various forms, reports, and maintenance records.
  • Receive and distribute departmental packages.
  • Maintain and update the chemical Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information for the Transit location.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The following knowledge and skills are essential for this position:

  • General understanding of automotive equipment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of business mathematics.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and basic computer skills.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 19 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED. A valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B with Air Brakes and P endorsement) is required within six months of employment.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires regular physical exertion, including:

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force regularly, and up to 25 pounds frequently.
  • Occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly sitting, using hands for handling, and repetitive motions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
