Position Summary:


A Field Sales Consultant at Zarsky Lumber Company is tasked with identifying sales prospects and executing sales primarily with builders, developers, and contractors.

This role necessitates the capability to cultivate and sustain relationships with a customer portfolio of 15 – 30 clients consistently.

This is achieved by pinpointing target clients, making outreach calls, visiting construction sites, and providing timely and efficient assistance to clients regarding their projects and product knowledge.

Proficient sales techniques, commitment to follow-through, and exceptional communication skills are essential components of this role.

General:

We are seeking a qualified individual to manage and expand the account base by marketing a comprehensive range of building materials and services.

The ideal candidate will possess 5 years of prior sales experience, particularly focused on building materials or similar sectors related to custom and commercial builders.

Extensive product knowledge is advantageous.

The candidate must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and be capable of presenting and negotiating significant deals in group settings.


Compensation:

The compensation structure during the initial phase is as follows: For the first 6 months, it will be based on a semi-monthly salary rate.

Following this period, the compensation will transition to a commission-based structure, calculated using gross profit dollars from assigned accounts. Additionally, a monthly vehicle allowance will be provided, along with reimbursement for limited mobile phone and business expenses.

Role & Duties:
Achieve and surpass annual sales targets. Seek new business opportunities within the company's service area to ensure year-over-year market share growth. Manage assigned existing accounts to ensure continuous business activity. Ensure that customer service levels meet and exceed both customer and company expectations.

Major Responsibilities:

Sales & Relationship Management:
Identify target clients

Establish and nurture new customer and vendor relationships

Provide and maintain service to current clients

Industry contacts are preferred

Interpret blueprints

Gather and maintain current information on clients' product usage and trends

Market lumber and building materials

Meet and/or exceed sales and profit objectives by following up on sales leads, monitoring market trends, and enhancing the company's positive reputation

Create estimates, special orders & invoices

Ensure customer satisfaction by assisting with take-offs and communicating scheduling and delivery commitments

Travel to local job sites

Communication:
Maintain open lines of communication between internal departments and external clients to ensure accurate and timely service

Keep the store manager informed of new business opportunities, concerns, and issues.

Knowledge & Training:
Identify personal growth needs and learning opportunities.

Commit to ongoing learning regarding products and procedures

Actively learn the Point of Sales system (BisTrack)

Adhere to all Company policies and procedures

Qualification Guide:

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Associate degree in construction, design, or related fields (preferred)

Experience:
Minimum 2 to 3 years of sales experience in lumber materials

Proven ability to increase sales and enhance profitability

Ability to interpret blueprints and compile material take-offs

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public

Ability to understand construction practices

Ability to comprehend instructions in written, oral, or diagram form to complete tasks;

Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Knowledgeable of industry forecasting and account management

Ability to participate effectively as a team member

Ability to work a flexible schedule

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
BisTrack System a plus
