Job Title: Accountant II

FSU is seeking a highly skilled Accountant II to join our team in the Office of the Controller (Accounting Department). This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, providing support to the Associate Vice Chancellor and other stakeholders in Business & Finance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review financial reports, including year-end financial statements, auditor inquiries, and other financial information.
  • Develop and maintain ledgers and files on all university and foundation endowment accounts, including reviewing cash balances, making investments, and preparing entries.
  • Reconcile financial aid receipts across Banner Student, Banner Financial Aid, and Banner Finance, and prepare entries as necessary to bring these systems into balance.
  • Assist with year-end processing and close process for the cash system and accrual system, including verifying balances and preparing FISAP Report.
  • Maintain ledgers and files on all debt service funds, including reviewing accounts, making entries, and keeping bond requirement information on file.
Requirements:
  • A master's degree in accounting with 1-2 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Experience with computerized financial systems, expertise in financial PC products (EXCEL and WORD at a minimum), and knowledge of governmental and/or university regulations and federal and state reporting requirements.
