Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for library patrons, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Library Operations: Assist with the registration of new patrons, checking materials in and out, shelving returned items, and helping patrons locate items.
  • Program Development: Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of library programs and services for all ages, including children's story time sessions and adult literacy programs.
  • Circulation and Reference: Assist with circulation and reference desk duties, including answering questions, providing reader's advisory services, and helping patrons with computers and digital media.
  • Training and Development: Complete required trainings and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
  • Experience: One year of recent experience with Microsoft Office Suite and excellent customer service skills required.
  • Skills: Effective instructional delivery techniques, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
  • Experience: Recent experience working or volunteering in a public, school, or academic library.
  • Skills: Knowledge of computer-assisted instructional programs and associated software and hardware, TEFL/TESOL Certification, and ability to converse proficiently in both Spanish and English.
