Sleep Study Technologist I

The Sleep Study Technologist I is responsible for conducting thorough polysomnographic assessments, scoring, and analysis, along with necessary interventions, under the general supervision of the department's designated leader and/or the medical director. This role requires strict adherence to AASM standards and departmental protocols while executing job responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications
Education
A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
Completion of an accredited educational program resulting in an associate degree focused on Polysomnography is highly desirable; alternatively, completion of a Polysomnography program affiliated with a state-licensed and/or nationally accredited institution is also preferred.
If the aforementioned educational requirements are not met, candidates must have successfully completed the A-Steps program or be enrolled in an approved A-Steps program within six weeks of the hire date.
Experience
Prior experience in a sleep laboratory setting or 1-2 years of relevant healthcare experience is preferred.
Familiarity with EPIC or other healthcare data management systems is advantageous.
Certifications and Licenses
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is a requirement.
Completion of the A-Step program is required within one year of hire for candidates without RPSGT/RST credentials.
Achievement of Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) and/or Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) board certifications is preferred within two years of hire.
Meeting the eligibility criteria for certification by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) as a RST/RPSGT or equivalent is also preferred.
