Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Roadway Construction Inspector to join our team in the Rancho Cordova, CA area. As a Roadway Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed in accordance with project documents, including plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project documents and regulatory requirements.
- Document and report on construction progress, including labor, equipment, and materials.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Assist Resident Engineers in reviewing project schedules, extra work bills, and potential change orders.
- Read and interpret project plans and specifications to ensure compliance.
- Monitor construction for compliance with project documents, including material tags and certificates of compliance.
- Measure and document quantities of installed materials in accordance with client policies and procedures.
- Inspect road and bridge construction, including checking grades, formwork, rebar placement, and concrete batch tickets.
- Communicate with project team members and provide recommendations.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- 2-year Associate's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- 3-5+ years of progressively responsible experience in roadway construction inspection or 6-8+ years of general construction experience.
- Demonstrate knowledge in construction inspection applications.
- Knowledge and experience in specific work trades, such as traffic control, asphalt paving, concrete, electrical, plumbing, and utilities installation.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including CalOsha, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
- Proficient in MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
- Valid CA driver's license.
- Willingness to travel.
- Competent verbal and written communication skills.
- Caltrans experience strongly preferred.
