Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler System Installation Specialist to join our team at Allied Fire Protection.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire sprinkler piping systems, including fabrication and installation. They will be responsible for overseeing the installation of fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation of fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
  • Installation, service, and trouble-shooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems along with all its related equipment
  • Leadership and supervision of fitters and helpers to ensure project completion deadlines are met
  • Trenching and repair of underground mains, including backfilling and tamping
  • Ensuring project results are achieved within financial and productivity budgets
  • Accurate completion and processing of paperwork required by the office and corporate management systems
  • Ensuring all equipment is installed in strict compliance with manufacturer's requirements
  • Conducting and coordinating necessary testing of the system to ensure required certifications are complete
  • Training and instructing helpers, apprentices, or other personnel in the basic process of service, repair, and/or system installation
  • Coordination of daily work schedules and direction of daily tasks/productivity of assigned employees
  • Maintaining open communication with customers and providing information as required
  • Participation in continuing education and training programs
  • Maintenance of inventory on service vehicles
  • Performing all other duties assigned

  1. Timely and complete submittal of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, Audit Forms, etc.
  2. Timely and accurate Incident and Accident Reporting

  5. Awareness and support of Stop Work Authority
  • Completion of all Training Requirements – Safety, Certifications, etc.
  • Accurate submission of Timesheets – job numbers/names, OT and travel pay, completed on time, etc.
  • Ensuring all required documents are complete, accurate, and professional, with required signatures
  • Proper Inventory Management – review, update, and approval of packing slips – submitted timely, proper material management
  • Proper Maintenance and care of equipment – trucks, lifts, tools, etc.
  • Keeping jobsites clean and organized
  • Production Efficiency – awareness of budget vs. actual labor hours and proactive communication with superintendent
  • Support and adherence to Company SOPs – Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.
  • Timeliness – at the job on time; attendance; communication with supervisor; paperwork
  • Customer Satisfaction and response to Customer Satisfaction Survey feedback improvement opportunities
  • Quality Control – reducing the need for return trips and warranty work
  • Professional appearance
  • Effective and professional communication within the department and with internal and external customers
  • Teamwork – maintaining positive interactions within your team, local office, etc.
  • Active participation in required team meetings
  • Ability to work overtime, out of town, or on-call as needed

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of fire sprinkler piping systems, including fabrication and installation
  • Understanding of fire protection installation requirements
  • Ability to properly read fire protection blueprints
  • Minimum education of High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • American Fire Sprinkler Association training program designed for fire sprinkler foremen, preferred
  • Certified state/federally-accredited Foreman, preferred
  • State Backflow testing and repair certification, preferred
  • Forklift and scissor lift certification, preferred
  • Nicet II & III certification, preferred
  • Understanding of NFPA codes and standards

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Foreman
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a fire sprinkler helper, preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a fire sprinkler apprentice/fitter, preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to take direction from upper management
  • Accurate completion and maintenance of all paperwork
  • Maintenance of vehicle and tools as per company policy
  • Valid state driver's license and good driving record
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, interactive, communicative, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Knowledgeable with NFPA 13 rules and all necessary codes
  • Ability to interact and communicate in a professional and positive manner with other trades, customers, project managers, county officials, general contractors, etc.
  • Demonstration of positive teamwork and ability to be a team leader and mentor
  • Maintenance of a clean and safe work environment
  • Compliance with all company safety practices and the safety handbook
  • Completion of projects in a timely manner while providing the highest standard of quality work and customer satisfaction
