**Job Summary:**
HACU seeks a highly skilled Director of STEM Innovation to lead its efforts in promoting research and innovation at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The successful candidate will develop and implement strategic programs to build capacity, increase research activity, and foster collaborative research projects.

 

**Responsibilities:**

  • Program Development: Design and lead training programs on growing the research enterprise at HSIs. Develop programs to build capacity at HSIs to increase research activity, catalyze collaborative research projects, and create new cultures of STEM research aligned with a Hispanic-serving mission.
  • Landscape Monitoring: Monitor extramural sponsored research trends, engage with federal and private funding agencies, and provide strategic direction to address those trends supporting HSIs' efforts.
  • Event Planning: Design and implement virtual and in-person events to promote STEM research and innovation.
  • Content Management: Develops and manages STEM content on the HACU website and resource library.
  • Project Management: Manages project budget and resources, collaborates with internal and external contributors, monitors milestones, and prepares reports.
  • Publications: Coordinates and co-authors publishable articles with HACU staff, mentors, coaches, and partners.
  • Funding Opportunities: Initiates and coordinates the development and submission of proposals for future funding opportunities related to HACU's STEM Futures Institute and other initiatives.
  • Representation: Represents the program in national and international venues.

 

**Requirements:**

  • Educational Background: Master's degree required, preferably in a STEM-related field. Advanced research or professional degree preferred, with expertise in research development and sponsored research administration.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in academic environments, supervising staff teams, and interacting effectively with researchers, faculty, staff, administrators, and funding sponsors.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to facilitate transactions, multitask, prioritize projects, and work under deadline pressure.
  • Technical Knowledge: Expert knowledge of research development, pre- and post-award research administration processes, and relevant sponsored research software.
  • Cultural Competence: Awareness and commitment to issues related to inclusion and cultural diversity.

 

**What We Offer:

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
