Assistant Horticulturist

Crescent Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Horticulturist to join its agronomy team at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club. As a key member of the horticultural staff, you will be responsible for overseeing and participating in the daily completion of work assignments, assisting with field decisions, and applying fertilizers and pesticides to turf and ornamental flower beds.

• Turf and Ornamental Maintenance: Assist in the daily completion of work assignments, including the application of fertilizers and pesticides to turf and ornamental flower beds.
• Field Decision Making: Collaborate with the horticultural staff to make informed decisions regarding job procedures, work standards, and machinery use.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of treated areas and other relevant information.
• Problem Solving: Routinely scout for issues and problems as they occur, including disease, insect damage, irrigation needs, and weed infestation.
• Leadership: Lead, guide, and direct employees in the maintenance of ornamental flower beds.
• Communication: Interact professionally with cabin owners, fellow employees, vendors, and suppliers.

• Education: High school education required, college degree preferred.
• Experience: 1 year golf course maintenance experience, supervisory experience preferred.
• Skills: Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, ability to analyze and solve problems, and efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Work Environment: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and maintain a positive attitude and professional manner in all situations.
