As a Phlebotomist at Adventist Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services. Your primary responsibility will be to collect and process patient specimens for diagnostic testing, while maintaining a high level of patient satisfaction and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and fingerstick techniques
- Verify specimen identification and appropriateness for testing
- Process samples using aseptic technique and prepare required paperwork for testing
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other departments to facilitate the flow and quality of lab work
- Monitor and maintain equipment as needed, following established guidelines
- Assist in ordering supplies and coordinating with the Lead Phlebotomist to run quality controls and perform proficiency testing
- High School Education/GED or equivalent required in California; preferred in Oregon and Hawaii
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required in California; preferred in Oregon and Hawaii
