This hands-on position will focus on the development of new products, internal application assessments, and training related to heat pump water heating systems at our facility. The ideal candidate should be adept in office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.
This role reports to the Development Engineering Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Act as a subject matter expert on heat pumps and refrigeration systems, providing support to the Aftermarket Services team in training and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to the development of new heat pump water heating products as part of the New Product Development Engineering team.
  • Engage with customers to offer on-site troubleshooting for product or service issues.
  • Conduct testing and further development of heat pump water heating systems in the Engineering laboratory.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions both on-site and externally.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams for new product initiatives and problem-solving as needed.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
  • Experience in product development for HVAC or refrigeration systems.
  • Field experience in heating or domestic water heating sectors.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic systems, communications, controls, and hardware.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship is necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Five years of experience in the HVAC or commercial refrigeration field.
  • Experience with natural refrigerants is advantageous.
  • EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Technician Certification is required; Type II or Universal preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISION:

This position does not have direct reports but will lead teams, set priorities, monitor progress, and evaluate team members' contributions towards objectives. The ideal candidate will exhibit leadership qualities.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is conducted in both office and shop settings. The office environment typically has a moderate noise level, with adequate lighting and temperature, free from hazardous conditions. The shop environment may vary based on the specific area and project.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly requires problem-solving, data analysis, and sustained focus.
  • Position involves extended periods of sitting at a computer.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capacity to evaluate various options and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to make impactful decisions for the business.
  • Frequent use of a personal computer and effective communication.
  • Occasional physical activities such as walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Work may involve exposure to equipment and machinery in a shop environment.
  • May encounter noise, dust, gases, or chemicals, requiring protective equipment as necessary.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimal travel, approximately 10% or less.
