The successful candidate will investigate and document crimes/incidents, document and preserve evidence, and provide legal testimony. Additionally, they will maintain a safe and secure learning and working environment, promote staff development, and ensure public awareness of health and safety issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce local, state, and federal laws, and ensure compliance with college policies and procedures.
  • Provide security for personnel, real property, and equipment.
  • Investigate and document crimes/incidents, document and preserve evidence, and provide legal testimony.
  • Maintain a safe and secure learning and working environment.
  • Promote staff development and ensure public awareness of health and safety issues.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Typically one year of functional experience in a related field of work preferred.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Class D Guard license or active law enforcement certification required.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required or, as a condition of continued employment, a Valid Florida Driver's License within 30 days after beginning employed by the College.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in emergency first aid preferred.
  • Ability to use evacuation chair, fire extinguishers, and golf carts required.
Work Environment

The Public Safety Officer Part Time will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
