Job Overview

Objective: The Convention Services Manager plays a crucial role in achieving the designated convention and event objectives aligned with the hotel's overall performance metrics. This position is tasked with ensuring exceptional service delivery to clients and groups while upholding the agreed-upon food and beverage minimums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve targeted meeting planner satisfaction scores and revenue benchmarks, alongside food and beverage objectives.
  • Proactively engage in solicitation calls, conduct property tours, and host clients to address their specific needs.
  • Analyze and assess trends within the relevant market segment.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations and policies across applicable departments.
  • Ensure timely delivery of banquet event orders (within 10 days) while maintaining accuracy.
  • Communicate any changes promptly to relevant departments and operational leaders.
  • Maintain a strong presence within the local community and industry associations.
  • Assist in the execution of special promotions related to direct sales segments, such as sales blitzes.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly meetings as required by management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager or Director of Sales.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required; prior experience in convention/event and catering sales is preferred.
  • Demonstrated creativity and knowledge of food and beverage/event management is essential.
  • A valid driver's license for the applicable state is necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required for effective negotiation and influence.
  • Experience in professional selling techniques is desirable, including opening, probing, supporting, and closing.
  • Proficiency in general computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office products, is expected.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks simultaneously; strong organizational and presentation skills are vital.
