Job Overview

Position: LTC RN (Registered Nurse)

Status: Full-Time

Shift: Night Shift; Every Other Weekend

Shift Length: 12 Hours (7p-7a)

Role Summary

The Registered Nurse will exhibit expertise in executing the essential components of the nursing process, contribute to nursing evaluations, and assist in formulating a comprehensive nursing care strategy while engaging in the assessment of nursing care outcomes.

Supervisory Duties

● Oversees care provided by nonprofessional staff and offers guidance as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Upholds nursing care standards by adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Actively participates in unit meetings and proposes enhancements for patient care through collaborative discussions.
  • Engages in peer evaluations as deemed appropriate.
  • Collects and documents thorough nursing histories from patients and/or their significant others, encompassing current conditions and past medical issues.
  • Records vital signs, observes changes, and initiates further assessments as required. Recognizes abnormal diagnostic data and communicates findings to the physician and other healthcare providers, integrating this information into the nursing care plan.
  • Utilizes assessment data to create a care plan by the end of the shift, ensuring sufficient information is available for incoming staff to provide quality patient care. Reviews and refines care plans for assigned patients, involving patients and their families in care planning, prioritization, and goal setting.
  • Employs care plans as a foundation for delivering safe and effective patient care. Collaborates with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members to achieve care plan objectives.
  • Takes responsibility for the clinical care of assigned patients, including supervising nonprofessional personnel.
  • Evaluates and documents the patient's response to nursing interventions outlined in the nursing care plan and medical records.
  • Commits to professional development through ongoing education and participation in unit meetings.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective time management capabilities.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient supervisory and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks appropriately.

Educational Background and Experience
  • Current nursing license in the state.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience with Epic proficiency.
  • ACLS/BLS certification required.
  • Willingness to FLOAT as necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer.
  • Prolonged standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
