Uber's Safety & Insurance Litigation team is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to oversee and manage litigation and claims arising out of the company's insurance policies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mass torts, appeals, and high-severity matters.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of general liability litigation for Uber, including mass torts and appeals.
- Analyze claims and cases to inform strategic decisions and drive innovation in legal precedent.
- Collaborate with outside counsel to manage mass torts and appeals, ensuring effective case management and dispute resolution.
- Work closely with Uber's business and legal teams to develop and implement risk management initiatives.
- Support the development of new insurance initiatives and collaborate with the insurance legal team to ensure compliance with global regulations.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of legal experience, with a strong background in managing high-severity cases.
- J.D. and license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- In-house experience is highly valued, with a strong understanding of mass actions, including mass torts cases through pleadings, motion practice, discovery, dispute resolution, and trial.
- Excellent case evaluation abilities, critical thinking skills, and the capacity to oversee a large portfolio of high-severity matters.
- First-chair mediation and trial experience is a plus.
- Extensive deposition experience, including presenting both lay and expert witnesses.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with teams and working independently to achieve results.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
- Self-motivation, with a strong affinity for vision setting, strategic problem-solving, and driving action.
- Excellent business judgment and great communication skills.
- Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability.
For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$209,000 per year - USD$232,500 per year.
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$232,000 per year - USD$258,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$232,000 per year - USD$258,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of compensation. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
