Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team at the Community Action Program for Central Arkansas. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and educational environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in maintaining a professional attitude and promoting developmentally appropriate practices in the center.
  • Form positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, and ensure the health and safety of children at all times.
  • Assist with daily activities, such as observing children, creating a welcoming environment, and providing activities to facilitate children's growth and development.
  • Take every safeguard to protect children and make careful decisions when working with them.
  • Work cooperatively with other classroom/center staff and promote good eating habits by sitting with children during meals.
  • Assist with data management and participate in center staff meetings and parent meetings as requested.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED and Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential with Preschool Endorsement required.
  • Three months experience working with young children (3 to 5 years of age) and computer literacy.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Good physical condition, able to lift children and sit/stand for long periods, and participate in activities requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and jumping.

Working Conditions
  • Full-time, non-exempt position, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm when children are present, and 7:30am-4pm on days when children are not present.
  • Valid driver's license, access to transportation with liability insurance, and willingness to use vehicle for Agency-related travel.
