About the Role

Dartmouth Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Section of Oncology at New London Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients with hematology and medical oncology conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and manage the healthcare needs of patients with hematology and medical oncology conditions, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with a department physician or specialist to plan and manage the care for patients with unstable, complex acute or chronic illness.
  • Ensure exemplary care and facilitate an environment that is centered on the needs of patients and their families and support for the nursing staff.
  • Manage therapeutic regimens for acute and chronic conditions associated with the care and treatment for cancer patients or patients with hematologic disorders.
  • Monitor toxicities and assess clinical responses, implementing a revised plan of care as needed.
  • Provide education for patients receiving chemotherapy/immunotherapy in the Infusion Suite.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team to provide longitudinal care for hematology/oncology patients and episodic care for unscheduled, urgent/emergent needs of those patients receiving care in the Infusion suite throughout various stages of treatment.
  • Serve as a clinical authority and resource providing education and consultation to healthcare team members.
  • Provide guidance and psychological and emotional support to patients and families.
  • Perform problem-focused health history, physical and psychosocial assessment, and prescribe appropriate evidenced-based treatments.
  • Add and modify chemotherapy/immunotherapy orders as part of each patient's treatment regimen.
  • Order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic, and radiological tests to evaluate patient's current health status.
  • Prescribe medications, medical equipment, devices, physical and occupational therapy, and home health services as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited APRN program.
  • Board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
  • Eligible for APRN licensure in the State of New Hampshire and the State of Vermont.
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Registration.
