Role Overview:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, conducting financial statement analysis, reconciliations, and reporting, while ensuring accurate accounting of cash, corporate assets, earned income, fixed assets, and marketing funds.
As a key member of the department, the Accounting Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and is expected to work on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise team members, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
- Conduct and review financial analyses and account reconciliations.
- Direct the activities of teams responsible for general ledger accounting, vendor billing, cash reconciliation, fixed assets, and capital expenditure accounting.
- Provide strategic insights for process enhancements and optimal resource utilization. Lead the team effectively through transitions.- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and maintain a robust internal control environment.
- Prepare various financial reports and undertake special projects as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of accounting experience, including supervisory roles in a high-volume transaction setting.
- Strong knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Familiarity with internal controls and SOX compliance is essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service abilities.
- Proven capability to lead teams positively through changes.
- Proficient analytical skills to make independent judgments regarding complex accounting processes and business operations.
- High proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of Access.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks in a dynamic environment. Self-motivated with the capacity to meet strict deadlines both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong relationship-building skills with colleagues and flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
