We are seeking a skilled Laborer/Utility Worker to join our team at American Water. As a Laborer/Utility Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of water and wastewater services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Read customer meters and perform various functions related to customer billing and collections.
- Perform routine maintenance on valves, fire hydrants, and water meters.
- Set up barricades and traffic cones, and break pavement as needed.
- Load and unload pipes and fittings, and dig trenches using shovels or other methods.
- Repair water line breaks and leaks, and place pipes and fittings.
- Perform maintenance and painting tasks as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous water industry experience preferred.
- Valid California Driver's License required.
- Ability to lift and stack equipment/materials weighing up to 90 lbs.
- Knowledge of equipment used and basic computer operating principles.
