Position Overview:
As a Sales Associate at Ann Taylor, you'll drive revenue by providing exceptional client services through relationship building, sharing style and product information, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment. You'll consistently achieve individual goals, which support store objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager, Co-Manager, and Sales Leads
Revenue Generation:
  • Meet or exceed divisional, store, and individual financial and credit goals while contributing to the store's overall objectives
Client Experience:
  • Provide excellent client service by anticipating their needs, exceeding expectations, and adhering to Knitwell Group service experience standards
  • Acknowledge, interact, and build relationships with clients, creating client loyalty and multi-tasking while servicing internal and external clients
  • Address client concerns, resolve issues when possible, and involve management where necessary
  • Portray a gracious, friendly, energetic, and engaging manner, remaining respectful and professional at all times
  • Take ownership, solicit and incorporate feedback for professional growth and development, consistently receiving positive, unsolicited client feedback
  • Communicate effectively with store management, store team, and external clients in person, through written correspondence, and over the phone
  • Build collaborative and productive relationships by sharing ideas, treating others fairly, with respect, and valuing differences
  • Embody our values and behaviors, inspiring the team by leading by example through your words and actions, supporting an environment of learning and trust
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, practices, and procedures, as well as federal, state, and local laws
Operations:
  • Complete opening and closing procedures and tasks as directed by the Leadership Team, focusing on client satisfaction (e.g., replenishing merchandise, recovering the store and styling rooms, processing shipments, cleaning, and executing merchandising moves)
  • Meet merchandise processing standards and maintain an organized and accessible work area
  • Adhere to Loss Prevention practices and be aware of and report potential incidents to ensure shortage control and protect company assets
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report any potential hazards to store management (e.g., ensuring exits are unobstructed, ceiling clearance in the stockroom is enforced, rugs are not frayed, spills are cleaned up immediately, etc.)
  • Participate and assist in the preparation for the store's inventory
  • Report to work as scheduled, record time worked accurately using Knitwell Group's Time and Attendance system, and remain flexible to meet the needs of the business
  • Follow all Knitwell Group operational guidelines, processes, and procedures
  • Review Bulletin Boards daily
Technical Expertise:
  • Demonstrate a desire and ability to be learner-responsible and navigate Knitwell Group's computer learning systems
  • Perform register transactions quickly and efficiently (e.g., sales, send sales, returns, exchanges, payments)
  • Be proficient in using Distributed Order Maintenance (DOM's) and StyleFinder to locate product for clients and process transactions accurately
  • Operate the phone, answering calls with an appropriate greeting, transferring, and placing calls on hold
  • Operate and understand the functions of the Point of Sale (POS) system
Product/Brand Management:
  • Understand and clearly articulate Knitwell Group's brand positioning, including the uniqueness of all expressions of Ann Taylor, current marketing and promotional initiatives, markdowns, POS events, Bounce Back promotions, coupon events, lifestyle concepts to internal and external clients
  • Live the Knitwell Group Purpose, Values & Behaviors, Practices in all interactions
  • Participate in and attend Store Meetings
  • Proactively use associate education tools to build product and styling knowledge with peers
  • Embrace fashion, understand current market trends, and articulate them using Knitwell Group's interpretations in every client interaction, representing the brand by adhering to Knitwell Group's dress code guidelines
  • Pack and wrap client purchases according to Knitwell Group standards
Position Requirements:
  • Client Service: Ability to function as a role model, ensuring the client remains the top priority, taking initiative to build a loyal client base
  • Follow Directions: Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines as assigned with minimal supervision and within designated timeframes
  • Merchandising: Knowledge of visual standards and techniques, and ability to implement and maintain with Knitwell Group's guidelines
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with Clients, Members of Management, Business Partners, and Store Associates
  • Accuracy: Ability to handle cash and provide change without error
  • Schedule: Remain flexible in scheduling that meets the needs of the business
  • Physical: Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally, maneuver effectively around the sales floor and stockroom
Educational Requirements and Experience:
  • Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year sales associate or relevant experience in the services industry with proven results
