Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate a slurry truck to apply a specialized coating to pavement surfaces, ensuring a high-quality finish and meeting project specifications.
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition and compliant with DOT regulations.
  • Control the output of materials to produce a material that meets the required specification.
  • Direct squeegee employees to ensure a perfect finished product.
  • Perform minor repairs to the paving machine and box as needed.
  • Assist and direct the paving crew with hand work and clean up as needed.
  • Communicate with the line driver to ensure no gutter spills occur.
  • Communicate all safety, quality, or production issues to the superintendent.
  • Meet with the superintendent daily to establish a production plan for the day.
Requirements:
  • Class A Commercial License
  • Excellent commercial driving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to supervise and direct squeegee employees in a professional manner
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 1-3 years of work on a slurry crew
Work Environment:
  • Works alone and with others
  • Works in outside weather conditions, subjecting the incumbent to extreme heat and extreme cold
  • Exposed to fumes/odors/dirt/dust/heat/cold/noise/wetness and humidity and vibration
  • Often exposed to darkness and/or poor lighting
  • Exposed to pressurized equipment, moving objects, high places, and hazardous materials
  • Exposed to elevated workplace/mechanical hazards, explosives, electrical hazards, and fire hazards
  • Standing for long periods of time in one place
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs with assistance; 50lbs without assistance
  • Climate often hot in summer and cold in winter
