Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor of Chemistry to join our faculty team at Paul D. Camp Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching chemistry courses, developing curriculum, and engaging in scholarly and creative activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach chemistry courses, including lecture and laboratory sections, to students with diverse backgrounds and academic competencies.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with student learning goals and outcomes.
  • Use formative and summative assessment measures to evaluate and enhance student learning.
  • Engage in scholarly and creative activities, such as conference attendance and presentation, participation in professional organizations, and academic coursework.
  • Participate in college and departmental meetings, and adhere to college and VCCS policies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry.
  • Ability to design and implement curriculums that align elements of student learning to the student's educational goals.
  • Ability to develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate traditional and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds and varied academic competencies.
  • Ability to use formative and summative assessment measures to evaluate and enhance student learning.
  • Knowledge of and proven skill with teaching strategies that promote student success.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, for group presentations or one-on-one settings.
  • Commitment to stay current and continually improve knowledge and understanding of the teaching discipline.
  • Ability to effectively use/learn to use various technology applications including college email and the learning management system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full-time teaching experience.
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, alternative delivery methods to include online delivery, hybrid and hyflex course options, content software, web-enhancements, etc.
Working Conditions

Adjunct teaching responsibilities vary as needed by the institution and shall include such combinations of on and off-campus, day, evening, distance learning, and weekend classes. Individuals hired to teach courses in an adjunct capacity may only teach a total of 12 workload credits in each term (fall and spring) and 8 workload credits in the summer term.
